About the event

In the tradition of the Ausidi, the stories of the day are offered to the fire through animated storytelling, song and dance. We embody the stories of the day and reflect them back to each other to be witnessed. Each person in the circle shares their ‘stuk’ for the purpose of catharsis. It is an ancient practice and a wise one. It releases the story from the body, for a peaceful night's rest and liberates the new day for new stories, possibilities and creations.

Personally, this year has been both exquisitely beautiful and a hard taskmaster for me. I’ve had exhilarating breakthroughs in stubborn life-long, and intergenerational, patterns but it has been a relentless fiery transmutation. I experience myself as anxious about the year ahead and my prayers a little pleading. For relief from the burn. For a softer unfurling. For things just not to be so hard, so very torrid.

I ask myself, what can I offer to the fire? What is my ‘stuk’ for this year that is ready to be offered to the blaze in order to liberate the new year for new stories, possibilities and creations? What is it that requires so much fire before it can renew? There’s only one way to know: offer the story to the fire, become the fire and reduce the story to ashes.

To honour the fire and create clearing, I offer a storytelling and constellations circle online on Saturday 16 December, Reconciliation day, from 10am - 3pm for a hot discount rate of R350 pp.

What to bring to the clearing:

  • The themes of your year: bring the ones that feel good and the ones that feel fiery.
  • Writing tools - we will do some free-flowing, freestyle and fiery free-writing. Bring a notebook or sheets of paper and tools of your choice - pen, crayon, ink, blood, soil or ash.
  • A candle, matches and a shell/bowl big enough to safely burn your story once shared. Or if you have a fireplace near your working space, you may want to prepare it.
  • Tissues and lots of drinking water.
  • Any supportive, resourcing symbols eg. photograph of an ancestor, a loving pet, symbols from your guides or teachers.
