Teacher: from servant to service
Dear friends,
A new time is here. On 8 August 2026, while offering the timeless ritual of washing and anointing of feet I looked up at Beauty School’s first graduates, Georgia and Annie, and realised I am teacher.
On my knees, in collaboration with the Big Mother, in service of the future.
This is a very different stance to how I’ve been taught or received any of my education. Looking back now, I can see that I’ve spent the past decade (and a lifetime) cleansing my concept of authority, service and leadership. My assimilated accent and manners belie the fact that I am only 1 generation from farm labour, and the systemic violence that persists with such an heritage. I simply can’t bow to people or systems that need me to defer my intuition, creativity and time for their enrichment anymore. I am the free-est woman in my ancestral lineage for generations, and I am here to do the work that my soul purpose has come to do!
One of the ways this is expressing over the past years, is through an active collaboration with the relational field to surface and co-create a project, now called Beauty School. Through dreams, divinations, rituals and embodied healing technologies, like Family Systems Constellations, West and Southern African ancestral medicine practices, I have been listening deeply to the land and the ancestors of this soil. Tracking and recording signs, stories and synchronicities in order to take aligned action that opens the field for the emergence of our Beauty School.
A CURRICULUM FROM EARTH MOTHER
I’m so deeply immersed in the tracking of dreams, stories, signs and metaphorical symbols that it took me a full year to realise we had surfaced a curriculum for Beauty School’s foundational training!
I can now see that our organic curriculum is rooted in heritage knowledge of the indigenous plants, landscape and gifts of our genetically complex ancestral lineages. With a taproot in women’s herbal traditions of the Khoena lineages, this empowering curriculum trains women in the healing arts of plant medicines, heritage tour guiding, sustainable harvesting, massage, beauty services and community care. The women learn how to make healing beauty products, by hand, with what this land gives us. While learning how to run a beauty business that is in respectful collaboration with our natural relations,the elements, our ancestral heritage and our community.
We are all changed in this process. As we realise that through our bodies and Mother Earth, we have access to ancient technologies and economically accessible practices that are also our heritage.
We know we can call on the relational field and know now that the field responds to our prayers, rituals and healing. We are no longer forgotten brown people but dare to hope because we know we are loved by a greater relational family. That when we do our part, in service of life, every day becomes a living ritual.
CONSTELLATIONS TRAINING
A question I get asked frequently since moving to McGregor and holding all that is emerging with Beauty School, is what has become of my practice. Which is kind of a funny non-question in my body because I am constellating all day, every day. It is one of the technologies I use to engage with my daily life field. I don’t need to wait for a workshop to use it. Or for a ritual to speak to my ancestors. My life is the workshop. My life is the ritual, and McGregor as a village represents an interesting fractal within which to apply the orders of love, within palpable systemic patterns.
I have subsequently developed an online Training in Family Systems Constellations which I wish to offer in 2027. I believe this training will appeal to participants who want to apply relational practices in grassroots communities, life-supporting businesses or transformative future leadership pathways. To graduate in this training, participants will need to submit a portfolio of work sharing how you have applied the systemic orders of love within an existing project, community initiative or to manifest a project/business that aligns with your soul purpose.
That piece of work for which you can go to your knees, in collaboration with the Big Mother, in service of the future. I would love to have a sense of whether there is interest for such? So if you are reading this, and feel drawn to training with me in this way, please let me know.
